DMCA & Copyright Policy
Last updated: October 2026
We take copyright seriously. Valid takedown requests are processed within 48 hours. Please read this page before submitting.
1. Ownership of Poetry & Shayari
Lyrical Shayari is a curated literary platform. We do not claim ownership over any poem, couplet (sher), or ghazal attributed to a named poet. All poetry featured on this site belongs to its respective authors, their heirs, or their publishing estates.
We attribute every piece of poetry to its known author. If attribution is uncertain, we mark it clearly as "Author Unknown" and are always open to corrections.
2. Public Domain Works
Under the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, copyright in a literary work subsists for the author's lifetime plus 60 years from the year of death (Section 22). Works by poets who passed away before 1 January 1956 are therefore in the public domain in India.
Classical works by poets such as Mirza Ghalib (d. 1869), Mir Taqi Mir (d. 1810), Allama Iqbal (d. 1938), Dagh Dehlvi (d. 1905), and other historical figures are used as public domain material and are presented with full literary attribution and respect.
We cross-reference copyright status with both Indian law and, where applicable, US public domain rules (works published before 1 January 1929 are in the US public domain).
3. Original Editorial Content
The following content is original to Lyrical Shayari and is protected by copyright:
- English translations and transliterations of poetry
- Meaning analyses and contextual commentary
- Editorial introductions and literary notes
- Site design, layout, and user interface
- Curated collections, categories, and original metadata
These works are © Lyrical Shayari and may not be reproduced, republished, or redistributed for commercial purposes without prior written permission.
4. Fair Use & Fair Dealing
Where copyright-protected poetry is featured, it may fall under the fair dealing provisions of Section 52 of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957, which permits use of copyrighted works for the following purposes without constituting infringement:
- Private or personal use, including research
- Criticism or review of a work
- Reporting of current events
- Educational and instructional purposes
Lyrical Shayari presents poetry for educational appreciation, literary analysis, and cultural preservation — purposes that align with fair dealing principles. We do not reproduce works in full where shorter excerpts adequately serve the educational purpose.
